The Science Behind mOmega3™

mOmega3™ are fatty acids extracted in a delicate manner from fish skin. Omega3 fatty acids are known to promote health and are an essential part of the skin’s structure. The mOmega3™ extraction technology safeguards the moisture and fatty acids in the outermost layer of the skin. The human body doesn’t produce essential Omega3 fatty acids. They need to be obtained from outside sources.

The most significant building component of skin is collagen. This declines with age. mCollagen™ are collagen particles extracted from fish skin using a patented technology. mCollagen™ forms new layers across sensitive skin, filling up small wrinkles and damaged areas.

Overview Of The Skin

The outermost layer of the skin is called the corneal layer (1). The corneal layer (1) consists of 15 to 20 cell layers of dead cells that have dried out and died. Between the dried cells is the inter cellular (2) substance. This inter cellular layer (2) is rich in fatty acids that keep the structure intact and watertight.
Kerecis™ mOmega3™ Footguard™ formula has been specially formulated to remove dead skin from the feet. This helps to hydrate the remaining skin to prevent build up of dead skin and calluses.

In the case of extreme skin dryness, the corneal layer of the skin loses the fatty acids and dries out. This has a knock-on effect to the living cells below. The skin cells below are no longer protected. This causes skin tightness, inflammation, itching, as well as the formation of calluses.
